Free Vision Screening in Elementary Schools
We support free eye screening for approximately 3,500
students in West Covina schools each year. The grades
tested are kindergarten, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.
The West Covina School District nurse can refer any
child whose parents cannot afford their child's eye
care to Lions. We will cover the cost of their eye
care. The child must either live or go to school in
West Covina.
Lions Eye Mobile and Hearing Screening
Every October, we bring the District 4L-2 Eye Mobile
to West Covina for free vision and hearing testing.
The Eye Mobile is a state-of-the-art health screening
unit.
West Covina residents who are unable to pay for eye
exams and glasses may be eligible for assistance from
our club for necessary vision care. To determine
eligibility, download the Application for Vision Care and
submit it to East Valley Community Health Center.
Donate Used Eyeglasses
Eyeglasses Recycling
What can you do with your used eyeglasses when
you get new ones? Recycle them and give the gift
of sight.
Through eyeglass recycling, you may help a child
read a book. You may help an adult get a job. Or
you could help a senior remain independent.
Recycle your used eyeglasses in West Covina Lions
collection boxes. Your eyeglasses will be tested
and labeled by teens in Leos Clubs to determine
their prescription. Once labeled, Lions will
distribute these eyeglasses in the U.S. and
developing nations worldwide.
Last year West Covina Lions collected
6,000 used eyeglasses for recycling. We would be
happy to recycle yours. Drop them at any of the
