Student Scholarship Program

The Student Scholarship Program is funded and administered by the West Covina Lions Club. It was established by our Club to promote student participation in community service and to recognize exceptional students who show promise of continued volunteerism.

Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit to students graduating in the 2021 - 2022 school year that intend to pursue a higher education.


Scholarship applicants must:

  • Be a resident of the City of West Covina.
  • Graduate in the 2021 - 2022 school year
  • Have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Intend to attend a facility of higher education following graduation

Each high school student wishing to submit an application for the West Covina Lions Club Student Scholarship must submit a complete packet that includes the application and an essay of no more than 500 words in which the student describes:

  • The importance of serving in their community
  • What volunteer and service activities they have participated in within their local community
  • How a service organization can motivate more young adults to volunteer in their community

All applications must be submitted by Wednesday May 11th, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST.

Selection Process:

Following a review of all applicants, top candidates will be invited for an interview on Thursday May 12th, 2022 by a committee of Lions members. 


Announcement of Awardees:

Scholarship winners and their respective schools will be notified via email Friday May 13th, 2022. A Lion committee member will then attend each awardee's school awards night to publicly award the winning student. 


Payment Process:

Scholarship payments will be made directly to the educational institution once proof of registration has been submitted.
